Job OverviewThe Lead Wire Cutting Associate oversees shift operations related to wire cutting, measurement accuracy, quality control, and inventory flow within the Distribution Center. This role ensures the efficient and safe operation of wire cutting machinery, coordination with warehouse and logistics teams, and adherence to production schedules and customer requirements.
MainJob Duties
- Lead daily wire cutting operations to meet production and order fulfillment goals.
- Schedule workloads, assign tasks, and monitor performance across all wire cutting shifts.
- Ensure efficient material flow between receiving, cutting, and shipping areas.
- Maintain real-time coordination with the Inventory, Picking, and Shipping departments to align wire orders with outbound schedules.
- Track and report productivity, efficiency, and scrap rates; identify and correct process inefficiencies.
- Operate advanced wire cutting machinery, ensuring precise cuts according to specifications.
- Assist in troubleshooting machine issues, minimizing downtime.
- Lead and train Wire Cutting Associates and Operators on safety, equipment use, and quality standards.
- Conduct daily start‑up meetings and communicate performance targets.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
- Ensure all operations comply with OSHA, Sonepar safety policies, and electrical handling standards.
- Conduct routine safety audits and ensure all associates use required PPE.
- Coordinate with the Safety and Maintenance teams for equipment inspections and incident reporting.
- Experience with automated wire cutting machines (e.g., Reel Power, Graham International or equivalent); familiarity with electrical wire types, gauges, and reel management.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Eclipse) and barcode scanning technology; strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities; data‑driven and safety‑oriented.
- 2+ years in a warehouse, logistics, or electrical distribution environment; 1‑2 years in a supervisory or lead role preferred.
Shift: Monday – Friday 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm (during busy season the schedule will shift to 7:00 pm – 3:30 am)
