Registered Nurse; Pain Management

Position: Registered Nurse (Pain Management)
The RN is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as

appropriate to the setting.

* Assisting in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes

utilization consultation.

* Practicing as an Perioperative Service RN, working with Pain Services in the outpatient clinic setting at the Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECH).

* Providing outpatient care coordination for patients with chronic and acute pain management needs. The procedural areas involved include:
Minor Procedure Room and PMNR clinic.

* Providing patient care, equipment management and medication administration.

* Demonstrating competency in performing all unit specific nursing interventions and procedures to include, but not limited to: preparing procedure room and equipment based on patient needs; verifying integrity of supplies and instruments; setting up and maintaining a clean room; performing the required time-out procedure; providing for physical comfort of the patient; positioning the patient to avoid injury; providing moderate sedation for the patient;

assisting the physician as requested; completing pre, intra, and post procedure documentation; recognizing emergency situations and responding appropriately.

* Accountable for a designated group of patients during procedural care and hand offs from pre-procedural care.

* Working collaboratively with anesthesia, surgical clinics and perioperative services.

* Providing education to the patients throughout their interventional experience.

* Providing veteran-centric care, including family members as needed.

* Providing coordination of care as needed.

* Performing preoperative phone calls to all surgical patient.

* Utilizing evidence based practice and is involved in process and quality improvement activities.

* Planning, organizing, and when appropriate, directing and supervising the activities of others to complete assignments in a safe and timely manner.

* Demonstrating excellent communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

* May be assigned responsibilities as a charge nurse or preceptor (based on education, experience, and competency).

* Being involved in shared governance.

* Performing other duties as assigned.

Pay:
