Travel Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) – BMT | Aurora, CO 80045 — 13-week travel nursing role for experienced hematology/oncology and BMT nurses. Join a high-acuity inpatient Bone Marrow Transplant unit in the Denver Metro area. This travel nurse opportunity is ideal for Oncology RNs, BMT nurses, and hematology/oncology specialists seeking Colorado travel nursing jobs.
Location & Assignment Summary- Location: Aurora, CO 80045 (Denver Metro) — Colorado travel nurse assignment
- Employment Type: Travel RN (On-site)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks

- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,020 - $2,130
- Shift: 12-hour rotating (Night 3x12: 19:00 - 07:00; rotating schedule required)

- Unit: 36-bed BMT unit (planned expansion to 51 beds)

- Gain experience with cellular therapies including stem cell transplant and CAR-T in a high-acuity setting.

- Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care BMT or hematology/oncology RN experience required (2 years preferred).
- Licensure: Active Colorado RN license or Compact RN license (required).
- Certifications: AHA BLS (required); ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Certification (required) — chemotherapy/biotherapy certified preferred.
- EMR: Epic experience required (Epic charting competency expected).
- Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted with required specialty background; travel nurse experience helpful.
- Flexibility: Ability to float within scope to meet staffing needs/like units (required).
- Skills: Strong assessment, critical thinking, IV/central line management, transfusion, chemo administration, and emergency response skills.
- Provide direct inpatient nursing care for BMT and hematology/oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies (including stem cell transplant and CAR-T).
- Safely prepare and administer chemotherapy infusions (continuous and bolus), oral oncolytics, and investigational agents; monitor for adverse events and manage extravasation per protocol.
- Recognize, interpret, and communicate abnormal laboratory values and clinical changes to the interdisciplinary team (physicians, pharmacists, APPs).
- Manage central lines, implanted ports, and PICCs; perform line care, dressing changes, and maintenance per policy.
- Administer blood and blood products; monitor for and respond to transfusion reactions.
- Implement neutropenic precautions and provide symptom management for nausea, neuropathy, mucositis, diarrhea/constipation, edema, and dysphagia.
- Identify and respond to urgent/emergent oncology conditions such as tumor lysis syndrome, sepsis, anaphylaxis, hemorrhage, extravasation injury, spinal cord compression, and altered mental status.
- Document care accurately in Epic and collaborate with the care team to support safe, high-quality patient outcomes.
- Prior Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit experience with stem cell transplant workflows.
- Familiarity with CAR-T therapy administration and monitoring.
- Oncology certifications (ONS, OCN) or specialty training in hematology/oncology nursing.
- Experience with high-acuity patient ratios and complex medication management.
