The House Supervisor position exists to provide supervision and direction to RNs, LPNs, and CNA's in nursing support positions on assigned shifts to assure the delivery of quality patient care through the nursing process in accordance with nursing, division, and nursing home-wide standards. This position, when acting as the on-call facility charge nurse, has ultimate responsibility for maintaining safe, adequate nursing coverage for all or multiple residential neighborhoods in the facility.
Additionally, as a Nurse III, you can expect to:
* Supervise and direct subordinate staff in their delivery and provision of patient care. Examples are:
define job expectations, provide feedback in individual and group supervision, assess individual learning needs, and provide staff training
* Develop performance plans & complete appraisals (PMP)
* Maintain documentation of various systems, which include, but are not limited to, skin, falls, weight loss, and others
* Effective communication at all levels which includes physicians, families, residents, peers, subordinates, and supervisors
* Assumes leadership in crisis situations. Examples include: respond immediately to all psychiatric and medical emergencies, i.e., Code Red, accidents, injuries, fires, and all other disasters, notify appropriate personnel of incidents, injuries, file appropriate reports in compliance with regulations, etc
* Monitor quality improvement at shift and neighborhood level by taking responsibility for the delivery of patient care according to nursing, nursing home, and accreditation standards, compliance with charting by nursing staff (daily and weekly), keep staff informed of changes in nursing home and division policies.
* Performs and facilitates the completion of nursing assessments and nursing care plans, and provides patient advocacy and confidentiality. Administer medication/treatments
* Performs other related duties as assigned
Special
Qualifications:
* Required to obtain a CPR card and possess and maintain an RN license in good standing
Education/Licensure/Certification/
Experience:
* Current, valid licensure as an RN from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
AND
* Three (3) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position
Substitutions
Appropriate education will substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis
Conditions of Employment:
* CBI name check and fingerprint check, ICON Colorado court database, Medicare fraud database, Reference Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults - Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers)
* Current, Valid US Driver's License
* May have to transport residents in state vehicles
* Vaccinations as required by state and facility
* Day, evening, and night shifts to include holidays & weekends as needed
* Travel:
May have to transport residents in state vehicles
* Required to obtain a CPR card
* Possess and maintain a Colorado RN license in good standing
* Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must:
* Disclose that information on the application.
* Explain why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify you from the current position.
* Provide your employee number from your prior State employment. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination and failure to provide this information will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
