Position: Nurse Practitioner RN AP PRN - FTE Change (61664)

Overview
Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a multidisciplinary team providing care for individuals experiencing mental health crises. The team includes nurses, a prescriber, mental health clinicians, and case management staff offering psychiatric care, psychotherapy, and social interventions in a five-day overnight unit. This PRN Nurse Practitioner (NP) role involves picking up PRN shifts and performing medication evaluations, medication management, and psychiatric assessments when the unit is full.

This in-person, daytime position is supported by other prescribers to foster a collaborative environment for addressing complex healthcare challenges at both individual and system levels.

Salary and Availability
The starting wage is based on years of licensure and company equity and paid bi-weekly.

  • $58.94 - $75.07 per hour

Availability
This PRN role requires availability to complete initial in-person orientation and training during the scheduled onboarding week (Tuesday - Thursday), followed by training shifts within the first two months, scheduled based on operational needs. To remain active in PRN status, employees are expected to work at least two shifts per month, with each shift lasting a minimum of five hours, unless otherwise approved.

Functions
  • Provide direct psychiatric services through the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning and treatment of patients assigned, as within the State outlined scope of practice.
  • Assure clinicians in assigned services receive appropriate clinical supervision, as necessary.
  • Work with multidisciplinary staff to evaluate and triage according to level of acuity, as needed.
  • Share 24-hour on-call responsibilities with other psychiatrists for residential, outpatient and emergency care, as assigned.
  • Maintain availability by telephone for face-to-face evaluation of emergency patients, as appropriate.
  • Provide utilization review of all patients in continuing care to ensure appropriate medical/psychiatric services are received, as needed.
  • Attend team and other meetings, as necessary.
  • Provide consultation with staff on patient care and difficult cases, as needed.
  • Understand and comply with organizational goals around quality, compliance, standards, and policies.
  • Complete required education and training in a timely manner.
  • Accurately and completely document patient care. Provide information to credentialing, payroll, etc. in a timely manner
  • Monitor and coordinate care for assigned clients in partnership with the other members of the client s care team.
Qualifications
  • Master s degree in Nursing with Prescriptive Authority.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry.
  • Colorado Nurse Practitioner Licensure Requirement:
    Per Colorado BHA regulations, you must hold an active Colorado NP license before providing any client services. Out-of-state multi-state or compact licenses are not sufficient.
  • Certified as an advanced practitioner of nursing by the Colorado State Board of Nursing.
  • Valid and Current DEA.
  • Current knowledge of pharmacology.
  • Ability to administer medications and injections.
  • Knowledge of diagnoses and theoretical issues related to clinical treatment.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn/utilize electronic health record.
  • Treatment philosophy consistent with managed care principles.
Vaccination and TB Test

At AMHR, the health and safety of our clients and staff are our top priorities. All employees are required to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both must be provided on the first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
