Job Overview
The Clinical Nurse (CN) Flex provides Family-Centered Care by recognizing the patient, family, or designee as a full partner in delivering compassionate, coordinated care based on respect for the patient’s preferences, values, and needs. The role involves active participation in clinical education for patients, families, and staff, effective collaboration within nursing and inter‑professional teams, and fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision‑making to achieve high‑quality patient care.
The CN integrates best current evidence with clinical expertise to deliver optimal health care, uses data to monitor outcomes, and applies improvement methods to test changes that continuously enhance the quality and safety of health care systems. The position minimizes risk of harm to patients and providers through system effectiveness and individual performance, and utilizes information technology to support decision‑making, mitigate errors, and manage knowledge.
- Family-Centered Care: Recognize the patient or designee as the source of control and a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient preferences, values, and needs.
- Delivers patient and family‑centered care incorporating the nursing process while providing developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence‑based care and actively anticipating changes in patient outcomes/ unit needs.

- Communicates and advocates patient values, preferences, and expressed needs as part of implementation of the care plan, evaluation of care, and assessment of patient/family learning needs to the interdisciplinary team; initiates and anticipates individualized care and education across the continuum using an interdisciplinary approach.
