Job SummaryProvide outpatient medical care and coordinate the Pancreas & Biliary Multidisciplinary Clinic, working under supervising physicians and surgeons.
Responsibilities- Advise patient scheduling based on disease concern.
- Ensure all specialty providers are staffed in clinic each week.
- Review medical records to determine suitability for clinic.
- Request outside diagnostic tests and pathology/cytology as needed.
- Generate weekly patient lists for multidisciplinary conference.
- Order and interpret labs or diagnostic tests required prior to review.
- Prescribe medications, including pre‑procedure medications.
- Conduct peer‑to‑peer review or write medical necessity letters with insurance companies for pre‑authorization of tests.
- Communicate with referring physicians regarding patient referrals.
- Perform age‑appropriate history and physical examinations for complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients, deferring invasive examinations to attending physicians.
- Send new patient letters to referring physicians using EPIC system.
- See patients in follow‑up as needed.
- Collaborate with team members after conference to finalize patient plans and assist with ordering tests and referrals.
- Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC system.
- Contact referring physicians or PCPs for additional medical issues or to refer patients to appropriate specialists.
- Coordinate with surgeon’s office to facilitate perioperative management and OR scheduling.
- Coordinate with medical/radiation oncology office to facilitate oncologic treatment.
- Facilitate staff, patient and family decision-making by providing educational tools.
- Provide patients with hospital resources as needed.
- Participate in research in conjunction with faculty expectations.
- Track patient outcomes and data.
- Assist with database accuracy and management.
- Maintain compliance with hospital protocols and standards.
- Attend departmental meetings regularly.
- Participate in Pancreas & Biliary Oncology program development and community outreach initiatives.
- MSN required from an accredited Advanced Practice Nursing program (for NP or CNS).
- Current or pending Advanced Practice Registered Nurse licensure by a national professional organization.
- Current or pending Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Colorado.
- Admission to or pending admission to the Advanced Practice Registry of the Colorado Board of Nursing.
- Prescriptive authority required (can be pending on hire).
- One year of experience as a licensed NP preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program (for PA).
- Allowed to practice in the state of Colorado.
- Prescriptive authority (for PA).
- At least one year of experience as a licensed PA.
- DNP preferred (for NP or CNS).
- Surgical Oncology/Pancreas & Biliary Cancer experience (for NP or CNS).
- Surgical Oncology/Pancreas & Biliary Cancer experience (for PA).
