Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at Bio Life Plasma Services will support plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility by managing informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis.
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, and donor safety and eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent graduate from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
- Licensed or certified LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State‑approved basic IV therapy training.
- Completed FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- At least two years of clinical or hospital experience.
- Hourly wage range: $28.16 - $38.72 (U.S. based employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives).
