Job Summary

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an energetic leader to serve as the Specialty Director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Program. The Director will hold a full‑time faculty appointment in the Instructional Faculty Series at an open academic rank and will oversee the academic, administrative, and clinical aspects of the PMHNP Program.

• Serve as the Academic Advisor for all PMHNP students, providing guidance, monitoring progress, and establishing performance improvement plans as needed.
• Recruit, select, and advise qualified students through interviews, portfolio reviews, and informational sessions.
• Develop and deliver didactic, online, and blended instruction in the PMHNP curriculum, integrating innovative teaching strategies and educational technology tools.
• Supervise clinical courses, including coordinating clinical placements, maintaining relationships with preceptors and practicum sites, and ensuring compliance with clinical requirements.
• Lead the comprehensive examination process for PMHNP students, including competency evaluation and coordination of poster presentation activities.
• Create and maintain individualized Plans of Study to support expected program progression and accurate administrative tracking.
• Participate in curriculum and program revision and development activities, ensuring alignment with state and national certification standards and accreditation requirements.
• Collaborate on faculty and department committees, including development of new program opportunities and participation in leadership teams administering related fellowship and engagement programs.
• Maintain effective communication with students, faculty, staff, preceptors, and external partners.
• Engage in professional organizations and community initiatives to promote the mission of the College of Nursing.

• A doctoral degree (research or professional) in an appropriate field of science, nursing, social science, education, or related area from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years’ experience working as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an unencumbered registered nursing license in the State of Colorado.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an unencumbered Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) registration and prescriptive authority in the State of Colorado.
• A demonstrated record of effectiveness in teaching, collegial collaboration, and commitment to scholarly activities.

• Four years’ experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• Experience in academic leadership, including curricular or program development.
• A current Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) designation.
• Demonstrated success teaching across nursing programs, from undergraduate to DNP.
• Collaborative record of teaching and scholarship.
