Registered Nurse Orthopedics

The Clinical Nurse (CN) II provides Family-Centered Care as demonstrated by recognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate and coordinated care based on respect for patient’s preferences, values, and needs. Assumes active role in clinical education of patients, families and staff. Functions effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care.

Integrates best current evidence with clinical expertise for delivery of optimal health care. Uses data to monitor the outcomes of care processes and uses improvement methods to test changes to continuously improve the quality and safety of health care systems. Minimizes risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance. Uses information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.

The Orthopedics Institute’s primary location is on the Anschutz Campus in the Outpatient Pavilion, with additional services provided at eight Network of Care sites across the North Metro, Denver Metro, and South Metro regions. Our team delivers comprehensive orthopedic care to pediatric patients, managing a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions through both surgical and non-surgical approaches.

Ambulatory Orthopedic Nurses collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team that includes orthopedics surgeons, non-operative sports medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, registered nurses, orthopedic technicians, and medical assistants. Together, we coordinate care for patients with acute, episodic, and chronic conditions, including

• Chronic conditions such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, osteogenesis imperfecta, arthrogryposis, and other congenital syndromes
• Congenital abnormalities including clubfoot, developmental dysplasia of the hip, scoliosis, and other musculoskeletal and joint disorders
• Acute and episodic injuries such as fractures, ligament injuries, back pain, and sports- or trauma-related conditions

As an ambulatory orthopedic nurse, you will have the opportunity to learn from a highly skilled interdisciplinary team of health care providers. You will be challenged to coordinate patients care through the continuum, provide support in the clinic setting and deliver education to our patients/families.
