Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-acuity MS/Tele transplant and hepatology unit requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details
  • 36-bed surgical unit specializing in Solid Organ Transplant, Thoracic Surgery, and Hepatology patient populations
  • Cares for lung, liver, kidney, and pancreas transplant recipients as well as liver and kidney donors
  • Post-transplant patients admitted directly from the OR staffed at 2:1 or 3:1 ratios during acute recovery phases
  • All other patients staffed at 4-5:1 ratios, which may flex based on staffing and unit needs
  • Rotating day and night shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30
  • Weekend shifts required per unit needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities in the Metro region based on facility needs
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Navy scrub color required
Requirements
  • Active RN license (CO or Compact) currently in hand
  • AHA BLS certification required
  • CPI certification preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in a high-acuity unit required
  • Prior experience with flexible/flexing nurse-to-patient staffing ratios required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Epic charting experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and PICC line management required
  • Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and tracheostomy care required
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management skills required
  • Experience with telemetry monitoring (unit-based and remote) required
  • Wound care/wound vac experience required
Additional Information
  • Provide high-acuity surgical nursing care to transplant, thoracic surgery, and hepatology patients throughout their continuum of care
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams from Transplant, Hepatology, and Thoracic Surgery specialties
  • Support patients and families through their transplant journey with specialty-trained care
  • Work within a nationally recognized transplant program performing all solid organ transplant types in the Rocky Mountain region
  • Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract
  • RTO not permitted during specified blackout periods, including September 2-12, October 25-November 4, November 22-December 2, and December 20-January 3
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No blocked scheduling requests allowed
  • Candidates previously employed by the health system in a permanent or travel capacity within the last two years will not be considered
  • Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
