Description

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN with 2 years of experience and a CO or Compact RN license for a fast-paced, high-acuity progressive care unit.

Details
  • Work in a fast-paced, high-acuity 36-bed Medical PCU with a diverse patient population
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3 or 1:4 on days and nights, which may flex up based on staffing and unit needs
  • Rotating 3x12-hour shifts, days ) and nights ), various days of the week
  • Weekend shifts required per unit needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities based on facility needs
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • Special procedures include scopes, biopsies, moderate sedation, cardioversion, and urgent dialysis coordination with dialysis RN
  • Manages drips including insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nicardipine, heparin, lasix, and dobutamine
Requirements
  • Active CO or Compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios
  • Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, PCA, and procedural sedation monitoring
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE and wound care
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care within a high-acuity progressive care unit supported by an engaged, team-oriented staff
  • Complete all facility-specific training modules within the first week of assignment
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with RTO restricted during specific blackout periods
  • No blocked scheduling requests permitted
  • First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
  • Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose prior employment details
  • Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment may not be rebooked for at least one year
  • Local candidates accepted, with a distinct pay rate applying for those residing within 75 miles of the facility
