Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Level III NICU RN for a night shift position requiring 2 years of Level III NICU experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details
  • 55-bed Level III NICU, the largest in the Denver metro area, providing delivery services for high-risk births
  • Cares for micro preemies from 22 weeks gestation through post-term neonates
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:30 AM), various days of the week
  • Patient ratio of 1:2 with an average daily census of 48
  • Weekend requirement of 6-8 shifts (Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays) within a 6-week period, typically 2 of each
  • On-call requirement of one 12-hour shift every 6 weeks
  • Potential to float within scope to the Mother Baby Unit to care for infants, and possibly to sister facilities based on need
  • Uses Epic for charting
Requirements
  • Active RN license, CO or compact
  • Current BLS and NRP certification
  • Minimum 2 years of Level III NICU experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, blood product administration, arterial line management, and central line care
  • Experienced with UAC/UVC placement and management
  • Proficient in neonatal dosage calculations and administration of emergency medications, anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, and IV vasopressors
  • Skilled in respiratory care including bubble CPAP, HFNC, high frequency ventilation, oscillators, nitric oxide therapy, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
  • Experience with neonatal conditions including NEC, sepsis, NAS, hyperbilirubinemia, and respiratory distress syndrome
  • Skilled in phototherapy, thermoregulation, phlebotomy, and blood glucose monitoring
  • Experience providing developmental care and patient/family teaching
  • Experience caring for neonates under 24-28 weeks preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care including APGAR scoring, feeding management (bottle, breast, gavage), and breastfeeding support/handling of breast milk
  • Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and manage isolation precautions/PPE for infectious disease control
  • Navy scrub color required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply if they meet the required experience
  • Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods where RTO is not allowed
  • Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be eligible for a local rate
  • Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose this information for eligibility review
  • Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment in the OR may not be rebooked for at least one year
  • No blocked scheduling requests permitted
  • Completion of facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
