In conjunction with nursing leadership, is responsible for setting resident-directed quality care and quality-of-life standards in the community as well as evaluating and implementing person-directed policies and procedures. Provides leadership to night shift care partners and general nursing care to patients in nursing home facility by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Acts as a resource for staffing needs that occur on night shift; makes calls, moves staff as needed to address changes and acuity needs that require modification from written schedule
- Provides clinical supervision to all night shift staff and is on-call to solve complex clinical issues
- Ensures notifications are made as needed during the night and changes are relayed to appropriate staff
- Provides information to nursing leadership as needed to anticipate and solve night shift issues
- Addresses unmet resident psychosocial needs
- Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing standards
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient
- Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies the Physician of patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents; may notify supervisor as needed
- Performs nursing assessments to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient
- Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol
- Documents interventions, patient behaviors and physical assessments for assigned patients
- Initiates a patient/family-education plan according to the needs of the patient/family as prescribed by Physician
- Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities
- Other duties may be assigned
Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Colorado in good standing. Five to ten years' related experience and/or training and at least two years of nursing leadership experience in sub-acute or long-term care.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsActive, in good-standing, Registered Nurse License in the State of Colorado. Active Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
