DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a BMT/Oncology Cellular Therapies unit requiring 2 years of acute care BMT/Heme experience and a CO or Compact RN license.
Details- Inpatient 51-bed unit caring for patients with blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, various days of the week including weekends per unit needs
- Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3-4:1, which may flex up based on staffing and unit needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Floating required between BMT/Onc and CTU units, and possibly to sister facilities within the metro region
- No on-call requirements
- Navy scrub color required
- Active CO or Compact RN license required
- AHA BLS certification required
- ONC certification required (Chemo cert through ONS/ONCC)
- Minimum 2 years acute care BMT/Heme experience and chemotherapy administration experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with flexible staffing ratios required
- Skilled in oncologic emergencies, IV therapy/infusions, central line care, blood product administration, and chemotherapy administration and monitoring
- Experience caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other blood dyscrasias
- Experience with bone marrow transplant care; CAR-T and stem cell therapy experience preferred
- Provide direct patient care for individuals undergoing chemotherapy, biotherapy, and cellular therapies including stem cell transplants and CAR-T
- Manage oncologic emergencies such as tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
- Monitor and manage treatment-related symptoms including nausea, neuropathy, altered mental status, and edema
- Complete all facility-specific training modules within the first week of assignment
- Local candidates accepted at a reduced rate if residing within 75 miles of the facility
- Maximum 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods restricting time off during certain weeks
- First-time travelers not accepted for this position
- Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates within the last two years are not eligible for consideration
