Job SummaryThe Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a full‑time (1.0 FTE) Research Services Intermediate Level Professional in the area of stem cells and regenerative medicine for the retina. The successful candidate will join the Cell Sight program, a cross‑disciplinary team focused on developing stem cell‑based therapeutics to treat ocular diseases. Responsibilities include conducting research with human induced pluripotent stem cell‑derived retinal organoids, leading projects, and supporting other lab members.
Key Responsibilities- Culture, maintain, and expand hiPSC.
- Perform quality control of hiPSC lines and cultures.
- Differentiation and generation of 3D retinal organoids from hiPSC.
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments; interpret data.
- Assist in research projects led by other investigators and contribute to experimental design.
- Execute general laboratory maintenance tasks responsibly.
- Identify and implement laboratory solutions independently.
- Review, develop, and implement new or modified techniques for research projects.
- Assist team leads and supervisors with process development, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Train and support junior team members.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or a related field.
- One year of professional‑level research experience.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Two years of experimental or wet‑lab experience.
- Professional research experience of at least three years in visual sciences or basic research.
- Three or more years of experience in stem‑cell culture and differentiation, especially with hiPSCs.
- Experience with stem‑cell derived 3‑D systems, particularly hiPSC‑derived retinal organoids.
- Proficiency in cell biology techniques (tissue processing, confocal microscopy, immune‑based assays).
- Proficiency in molecular biology methods (nucleic acid/protein isolation, cDNA synthesis, RT‑PCR, western blot, electrophoresis).
- Track record of co‑authored publications in relevant fields.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and protocols.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
- Strong customer‑service skills.
- Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocols.

Anticipated Pay RangeThe hiring range is $50,357 – $64,054 per year. The range reflects a good‑faith estimate at the time of posting and may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on level.
