Job Summary:
The laboratory of Dr. Juan-Pablo Idrovo, within the Division of GI, Trauma, and Endocrine Surgery, Department of Surgery, is seeking a full-time Laboratory Sciences, Research Services Professional (RSP). The research aims to elucidate mechanisms of inflammation, cell death, and metabolic dysfunction following severe injuries to improve outcomes for elderly patients. We encourage recent college graduates seeking additional research experience before applying to graduate school to apply for this position.
The laboratory is located on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado. As a premier institution, CU Anschutz integrates world-class education, research, and patient care in state-of-the-art facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supervise, help, and educate entry-level PRAs, medical students, and surgical residents.
* Assist in reviewing and implementing lab support policies, practices, and programs to meet organizational, operational, and management needs and in training junior team members (intermediate level).
* Assist in grant and manuscript preparation and submission
Work Location:
Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field
* 1 year of relevant experience
* A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
* An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
* One (1) to two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
* Experience with cell/tissue culture.
* Experience with histology, including sectioning paraffin-embedded tissues.
* Experience with mitochondrial and metabolic studies (using Seahorse)
* Basic to proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and techniques.
* Experience/expertise working with animal models (murine)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including safety procedures and techniques
* Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
* Outstanding customer service skills
* Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion
* Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
* Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information
* Excellent interpersonal and general communication skills; applicant must be fluent in written and spoken English.

* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as
$52,030 to $69,720
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
