Position

Description:

Our lab studies fetal metabolic physiology at the Perinatal Research Center, University of Colorado Anschutz. We study how adverse intrauterine exposures disrupt cellular and metabolic pathways, thereby increasing long-term risk of metabolic disease through cell-intrinsic mechanisms termed developmental programming. Our innovative approaches leverage sophisticated in utero metabolic and physiological assessments, integrated with mechanistic tissue- and cell-specific analyses to understand the intrauterine origins of metabolic disease risk.

These results are foundational for developing translational strategies to improve perinatal outcomes and reduce the burden of metabolic disease across the lifespan in exposed offspring.
