The starting pay range for this position per hour is $23.75 - $25.75. The full pay range for this position per hour is $23.75 - $40.40. All About Assets ProtectionAssets Protection (AP) teams keep our guests, team members, and brand secure by mitigating shortage risks, preventing theft and fraud, and building relationships with store leaders and public safety officials.
Role OverviewThe Assets Protection Team Leader leads a security culture, manages priorities, responds to incidents, partners with store leaders, and develops a high‑performance team to protect inventory and ensure a safe environment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead a security culture, including crisis response, safety environment, crowd management, and guest support.
- Implement daily/weekly AP workload priorities to support business goals.
- Respond to external and internal theft incidents and prevent future theft.
- Implement strategic resolutions of external theft and fraud, apprehending individuals as per policy.
- Partner, educate, and support store business leaders on operational shortage priorities.
- Lead a team of hourly team members, including interviewing, developing, evaluating, and retaining talent.
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring, and Friendly experience.
- Ensure team members understand, are trained, and consistently deliver on Target’s guest experience commitments and operations.
- Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest moments.
- Review area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, take action to improve, and align team on right behaviors.
- Support total store sales and increase profitability by ensuring products are in stock and available to guests.
- Influence and validate physical security and safety processes; participate in store response and emergency crisis situations; create security plans for in‑store events.
- Support leader in educating teams on emergency preparedness and physical security procedures.
- Develop, coach, and lead team members to elevate their skills and expertise as directed by the direct leader.
- Anticipate staffing needs and support the direct leader to plan talent around accountability and performance management.
- Identify theft and shortage trends in the store.
- Identify shortage risks in key areas and support leaders to develop tactics that reduce shortage and drive profitable sales.
- Work a schedule that aligns to guest and business needs based on security and theft patterns, including early morning/overnight, evening, and weekend shifts.
- Develop team schedules and adjust based on security and theft trends with leader validation.
- Own prevention, identification, and resolution of external theft incidents; resolve theft using good judgment and conduct apprehensions while adhering to policy.
- Initiate, investigate, and resolve internal investigations as directed by AP leader or direct leader.
- Educate store leadership on merchandise protection best practice and audit execution in partnership with key partners.
- Implement and follow up on operational changes as directed by the direct leader.
- Support direct leader to educate and support store teams on operational shortage priorities.
- Order merchandise protection devices as needed; review and manage the allocated budget and adhere to guidance in the Merchandise Protection Best Practice on Workbench.
- Communicate AP priorities to the team, peers, and leadership.
- Build a relationship of trust and accountability with the direct leader and Store Director.
- Maintain relationships inside and outside Target, including district and store leaders and law enforcement.
