Job Summary
Associate I, Donation Services is typically the first point of contact for customers who drop off items at retail centers and/or stand‑alone donation centers (ADC). The associate provides excellent and friendly customer service by greeting customers promptly and assisting as needed, which may include lifting or unloading donations from a customer's vehicle or other area. Associates are expected to handle goods with care, showing respect for items donated.
Responsibilities- Provides excellent customer service, greeting customers in a timely manner, answering product questions as needed.
- Assists every customer by unloading donations from vehicle or other areas.
- Ensures that donated items are handled with care and sorted into appropriate bins or production areas.
- Inspects all donations within assigned areas and makes decisions on quality to sort appropriately for the sales floor or to be shipped to other locations.
- Maintains a safe, organized, and clean environment for both customers and fellow employees within the donation entrance and parking lot areas.
- Maintains remote donation centers, sheds, and/or trailer if applicable, following appropriate opening and closing procedures when working at a remote site.
- Ensures supplies are kept well stocked at remote site as necessary.
- Tracks and reports on donation levels daily to ensure trailers do not become over‑stocked when working in remote donation center locations.
- Communicates timely when the donation warehouse and/or trailer(s) are becoming full and a truck is needed.
- Follows all retail center/donation center policies and procedures.
- Assists drivers in loading and unloading donations onto the truck when necessary.
- Follows all safety processes and procedures to help provide a safe working environment for employees and customers.
- Crosstains in other departments or areas; acts as a back‑up for other areas as required.
- May be required to report to the store ADC or stand‑alone center when necessary.
- Job duties may extend beyond the tasks listed and may include additional responsibilities as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- One year of retail experience (preferred).
- Ability to make decisions by following Goodwill standards and guidelines.
- Basic computer skills needed to log into a computer system to order supplies and to send and receive email.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions with varying temperatures.
- Capability to use safety equipment to assist with lifting heavy objects such as a dolly or pallet jack.
- Ability to read, comprehend, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Effective communication with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
- Capability to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
Pay: $16.45 per hour. Position is eligible for Daily Pay through the Daily Pay benefit. Part‑time employees in the Retail and Sales/Operations Division are eligible for paid holidays, sick leave, jury duty, and bereavement leave. All employees may also make pre‑tax or post‑tax (Roth) contributions to our retirement plan – must be 18 years of age to participate. Goodwill of Colorado is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) eligible employer.
WorkHours
Donation hours at our stores are Monday through Saturday 8:00 am to 8:30 pm and Sunday 9:00 am to 7:30 pm. Part‑time positions are available; let us know your availability.
