Position OverviewThis role requires an experienced manager from retail, hospitality, or production who has led teams of 20‑30 people. The Assistant Store Manager at Goodwill is a high‑visibility leadership position that combines business acumen with people leadership. You will receive immediate training and play a key part in driving store performance. The position is located in the South Denver Metro area, including Aurora, Castle Rock, Englewood, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, and Parker.

Job SummaryAs Assistant Manager, Store you will manage daily operations, act as the Retail Store Manager in their absence, and support financial goals to generate the income and donations required for mission and community programs. The role requires empowering leadership, hands‑on involvement, and skill in merchandising, donation collection, loss prevention, point‑of‑sale systems, and quality control. You will also assist the Retail Store Manager with budgeting, financial reporting, and profit & loss.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS Store Assistant Manager
- Work closely with the Retail Store Manager to increase sales and donations.
- Recommend changes to operational procedures to maximize expense‑to‑revenue ratios.
- Promote safety, ensuring OSHA and CARF compliance; may serve as Safety Representative.
- Obtain and maintain certifications on pallet jack, walkie‑stacker, forklift, and other equipment.
- Stay aware of competition and retail trends and suggest appropriate actions.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the POS system.
- Lead and manage retail store staff, ensuring safety, productivity, and success.
- Oversee daily operations of all functional areas including sales floor, donation store, production areas, and storage.
- Directly responsible for hiring, performance management, goal setting, and termination recommendations for at least one department.
- Adhere to Goodwill policies, the Employee Handbook, safety standards, and all supplemental policies.
- Partner with the Retail Store Manager to conduct employee training and knowledge transfer.
- Be on call for alarm notifications after hours.

- Provide coverage for absences and assist in training for team members.
- Collaborate with other managers to enhance store performance.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and may be assigned beyond immediate geography.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
Experience: At least 2 years supervising retail operations or similar, with accountability for business performance and financial results.
- Proficiency with office equipment, Word, Excel, and web‑based applications such as UKG.
- Manage corporate email and calendar.
