Work Hours

Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Occasional shifts outside this window may be required to meet department needs.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct security patrols of campus buildings and parking lots by foot, bicycle, or vehicle; maintain stationary security posts as assigned.
  • Respond to all calls for service directed via radio, telephone, or supervisory personnel; provide first‑response to emergencies and disruptions.
  • Design and lead campus safety patrol initiatives; notify supervisory staff of security breaches or risks in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement for incidents involving trespassers or other threats; assume control until emergency responders arrive.
  • Investigate security matters, write accurate reports, and maintain incident logs; collaborate with law enforcement to preserve evidence.
  • Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic; enforce campus rules and regulations; issue parking tickets; manage crowd and traffic control during events.
  • Assist in evacuations and provide emergency response and first aid; serve as initial responder in emergencies such as tornado, flood, or bomb threat; issue timely warnings and notifications.
  • Maintain and use approved equipment such as batons, handcuffs, pepper spray, and radios; keep certifications current.
Physical Requirements & Personal Protective Equipment

Require ability to move up to 100 lbs occasionally or 50 lbs frequently; may need to lift 20 lbs constantly. Perform tasks involving climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and operating under low light. Wear personal protection equipment and standardized uniforms.

Conditions of Employment
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license to operate campus vehicles.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within six months of hire if not already certified.
  • Must pass background check, physical, agility test, and drug test; age of 21 required.
  • Obtain training in taser, pepper spray, handcuffs, and ASIST within six months of appointment; provide documentation.
  • Felony convictions or certain misdemeanors related to duties may disqualify; disclose all relevant charges.
  • Will be required to expose to shift differentials as specified.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Three (3) years of work experience in security, campus safety, or law enforcement as primary function.
  • Alternate qualification:
    College or university coursework in Law Enforcement or a related field, with transcript verifying required credits.
  • High desirability for strong oral and written communication, customer service skills, and ability to work independently.
