Lowry Security Department

Position Overview

The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) seeks a full‑time Security Officer in the Security Department at Lowry Campus. The role requires monitoring campus facilities, conducting patrols, responding to calls, investigating incidents, enforcing campus rules, and providing emergency response support.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct security patrols of campus and all buildings on foot or by other means (patrol car, bicycle, etc.) and provide stationary duty as assigned.
  • Respond to all calls for service directed by radio, telephone, or supervisory personnel; notify appropriate authorities of breaches and security risks.
  • Provide safety escorts to campus users and inspect buildings, doors, windows, and access points for security.
  • Respond to alarms, assist fire and police departments, and communicate incident details.
  • Perform investigations of security matters; prepare and file accurate reports, maintain logs, and support Clery reporting.
  • Enforce campus rules, detain and restrain individuals in compliance with legal standards, assist in conflict resolution, crowd control, issue parking tickets and trespass notifications.
  • Assist in emergency evacuations; provide first aid/CPR/AED as needed and serve as initial responder for emergency situations.
  • Maintain equipment, vehicles, and safety devices; ensure proper use and certification of protective tools.
Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience in security, campus safety, or law enforcement. Experience may be substituted with education as defined below.
  • College, university, or accredited business school coursework in law enforcement or a related field may substitute one year of experience for each year of coursework; transcript review required.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 60 days of hire if not already certified.
  • Completion of background checks, physical, agility, and drug testing; minimum age 21 years.
  • Training in use of baton, pepper spray, handcuffs, and ASIST within six months of appointment; lack of certification results in downgrade to Technician I.
  • Ability to perform required physical exertion, including lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, or 20 lbs constantly.
  • Felony or moral‑turpitude conviction disqualifies candidate unless disposition provided.

Open only to residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Conditions of Employment

Must possess driver’s license, obtain first aid certifications, pass background and physical tests, and complete required training as noted in the qualifications.
