Position Summary
Facilities HVAC Technician (Lead Tech, Facilities) – Aurora, CO. Responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC and mechanical systems across the RTX Aurora facility, as well as providing support to secondary sites in Omaha, NE and other Colorado locations.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and perform maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC components in compliance with national and local codes.
- Develop, schedule, and execute preventive maintenance programs for HVAC equipment.
- Work from system drawings, sketches, and operating manuals to perform installations, adjustments, and component replacements.
- Assist other disciplines on joint projects to ensure timely completion and integrated solutions.
- Troubleshoot and maintain ancillary systems such as pumps, compressed air, vacuum systems, and other mechanical utilities.
- Carry a pager and be available for after‑hours support on a rotational basis.
- Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and building code requirements during all work activities.
- Minimum 8+ years experience as a facilities HVAC technician.
- AA/AS degree or equivalent 2‑year post‑secondary training.
- Universal EPA Certified HVAC mechanic with strong troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of pneumatic controls, thermostats, VAV boxes, and environmental control systems.
- Proficiency with large air handlers, rooftop units, HVAC schematics, electronic wiring diagrams, and architectural/mechanical blueprints.
- U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.
- Security clearance that can be obtained within six months.
- Trade school HVAC experience in a government‑defense environment.
- Experience with building automation and control programs.
- Willingness to travel to multiple sites.
