City of Aurora is expanding its team of dedicated and collaborative professionals. We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to help keep Aurora Water facilities safe, reliable, and operating at their best while supporting essential water, sewer, and stormwater services for our community.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Build and support cross‑functional relationships between divisions, internal partners, and external vendors/contractors.
  • Deliver high‑quality work products.
  • Be responsive, courteous and customer‑service oriented.
  • Assist in maintaining daily operations of Aurora Water SEAM facility.
  • Provide vendor/contractor support and escort throughout the facility; provide direction to vendors as needed and ensure vendors align with our policies and procedures.
  • Monitor Building Automation System (BAS) alarms, investigate and troubleshoot issues, and reset system alarms.
  • Respond to mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues, investigate cause, remedy issue, and coordinate contractor response.
  • Maintain dry fire suppression system.
  • Coordinate with service contractors to identify, diagnose, and repair issues.
  • Communicate effectively via phone, email, and other written correspondence.
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff and colleagues; receive, log, prioritize, and coordinate requests received via work order, phone calls, and email.
  • Collect and maintain job‑related data and identify trends for improvement and provide necessary reports to management.
  • Coordinate and perform small office projects and maintenance.
  • Create and install facility signage as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Salary to be commensurate with experience.

Hiring range: $23.40 - $29.25 per hour.

This is classified as VHBE, where the selected candidate will work an average of 40 hours per week. The selected candidate will be eligible to elect Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, accrue paid time off, and receive 11 paid holidays.

Minimum Qualifications & Working Conditions

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education
  • High School diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience
  • 2 years demonstrated ability working in a fast‑paced facilities and operations setting.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in interior and exterior building maintenance or remodeling including drywall, painting, plumbing, roofing, HVAC, flooring repair and replacement, appliance installation and repair, fixture replacement, lighting and basic electrical.
  • CMMS and work order management experience.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Colorado Driver License with a good driving record.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of methods, techniques, tools and equipment used in performing a variety of building repair and maintenance functions, hazards and safety practices common to the construction industry.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of facilities and grounds maintenance practices.
Skills
  • Good communication skills to inform team members and stakeholders on the status of projects and tasks.
  • General “handyman” skills.
  • Skill in operating vehicles and basic maintenance equipment.
  • Skill in the use of tools, specialized equipment common to building maintenance functions.
