Boulder County Human Services Department is hiring two Practice Coaches – Child Welfare. One position is a standard Practice Coach and the other is a Bilingual Practice Coach (English and Spanish).
The Practice Coaches serve a critical role in strengthening child welfare practice, supporting workforce development, and advancing the county’s commitment to family‑centered, kin‑first, and equity‑driven practice. They provide hands‑on, field‑ and office‑based coaching to caseworkers across Intake, Ongoing, Family Time, Kinship, Adult Protection, Administrative Services, and CHAFEE. They partner with new and experienced staff to enhance critical thinking, strengthen safety assessment skills, and build trust‑based relationships with families.
The role is central to implementing and sustaining the Boulder County Family & Children Services practice model and vision.
The position is full‑time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional evening or weekend hours as needed. The primary work site is 515 Coffman St., Longmont, Colorado. The position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Boulder County requires that employees reside in the state of Colorado on the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range
: $70,428.00 – $85,908.00 Annually

New employees receive an 80‑hour bank of vacation at hire plus additional vacation and medical leave accruals each month. Boulder County offers a pension contribution and may qualify employees for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. Qualified employees with a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle will receive a driving allowance.
- Bachelor’s degree in an area related to child welfare social casework (e.g., human behavior, child development, family intervention).
- At least two years of professional human services casework experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation for business use.
- Willingness to pass a background investigation with fingerprinting.
- Demonstrated fluency in English and Spanish at the time of pre‑employment screening.
- Additional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills.
- Ability to model high‑quality practice and support skill transfer.
- Experience delivering coaching grounded in equity and reflective practice.
- Familiarity with the Boulder County FCS practice model and Partnering for Safety tools.
- Ability to facilitate group supervision for complex or multi‑system, high‑acuity cases.
- Creative, flexible approach to family engagement and permanency challenges.
- Ability to support staff development.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
- Capacity to model inclusive leadership and build trust.
- Strengthen workforce resilience and reflective capacity.
- Ability to center race in decision‑making and practice discussions.
- Ability to integrate equity tools, reflective questions, and culturally responsive approaches.
- Deep understanding of child welfare practice.
- Strong understanding of D & N court processes and ability to support caseworkers in navigating relationships with RPCs, GALs, judges, magistrates, county attorneys, and respondent parents and their children.
