Community Autism Services

School Social Worker | Aurora, CO

Full-Time | School-Based | $45-50 / hour

Why Social Workers Choose CAS

At Community Autism Services, we know that great outcomes for students start with great support for clinicians. You won't be handed a caseload and left to figure it out - you'll have BCBAs, clinical leadership, and a collaborative team behind you every step of the way. We build environments where school psychologists thrive, and where your evaluations, consultation, and direct support have a measurable, lasting impact on students' lives.

WHAT

SETS US APART
  • Embedded BCBA and clinical leadership support and collaborative consultation on every caseload
  • A culture that prioritizes data-driven decision-making without losing the human element
  • Real investment in your professional development - assessment, crisis intervention, bilingual assessment, and more
  • Meaningful, stable work in Aurora's growing school-based programs
  • A leadership team that has worked in the field and genuinely gets it
Role Overview

The School Social Worker is the critical link between school, family, and community. You ll provide direct counseling and crisis support to students, complete social-emotional and developmental assessments, and partner with teachers, BCBAs, school psychologists, and families to remove the barriers - at home, in the community, or in the classroom - that get in the way of a student s ability to learn.

This is a building-wide role: you ll work across all classrooms and grade levels, not a single program or caseload.

What You ll Do

ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION

  • Conduct social-emotional, developmental, and adaptive assessments to inform special education eligibility and support planning
  • Complete social developmental histories and biopsychosocial assessments within required timelines

IEP & ELIGIBILITY

  • Deliver individual and group counseling to students experiencing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk/threat assessment support as needed, including safety planning
  • Support students navigating stress, grief, family disruption, attendance issues, and other barriers to learning

DIRECT STUDENT SUPPORT

  • Deliver individual and group counseling services aligned with IEP goals
  • Support crisis intervention and threat/risk assessment as needed
  • Promote positive mental health and safe, supportive learning environments

CONSULTATION & TEAM SUPPORT

  • Participate as a member of IEP and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to eligibility and goal development
  • Consult with teachers and paraprofessionals on behavior support strategies and classroom-based interventions
  • Support MTSS/RTI processes and building-wide social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives
  • Partner with BCBAs and school psychologists on FBAs, BIPs, and wraparound care planning

DOCUMENTATION & COMPLIANCE

  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
  • Complete required documentation - evaluation reports, progress notes, prior written notices - accurately and on time
  • Ensure all evaluations and services meet CDE Special Services Provider (SSP) licensure standards
What We're Looking For

UNIVERSAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Specialist-level degree (Ed.S.) or Doctorate in School Psychology from an accredited program
  • Master s degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program (Bachelor s/BSW considered for provisional licensure pathways)
  • Active Colorado CDE Special Services Provider (SSP) license with School Social Worker endorsement - or eligibility to obtain
  • LSW, LMSW, or LCSW licensure through the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication with families, educators, and multidisciplinary team members
  • Must pass district fingerprinting and background check

Compensation & Benefits

Salary: $45 - $50/hour, based on experience, education level, and licensure

  • Sign-on bonus for candidates with active Colorado SSP licensure
  • Relocation stipend for candidates joining from 75+ miles away
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Paid school-year schedule following the APS academic calendar
  • Ongoing professional development: assessment, crisis intervention, bilingual assessment, and more
  • Career pathways into lead psychologist, clinical coordinator, and program specialist roles
