The Youth Workerfor La Jornadaworks to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families being served by the National Youth Advocate Program by working closely with the youth and family to provide advocacy and support towards targeted goals.

• Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s Mission, Values and Philosophies.
• Provide direct supervision of children in care, including alwaysmaintainingline-of-sight.
• Interact with the youth to develop a trusting, supportive relationship whileassistingthe youth in achieving identified goals.
• Provide youthwiththe appropriateleadershipduringtheprogram.
• Provideawarm,caringandsafeatmospherefortheprogram.
• Reportanyproblemwhicharisestothe Outof School Coordinator .
• Responsibleforallactivityandroompreparationsfortheprogram.
• Completeallrelevanttrainingonatimelybasisasrequiredbystate,contract,and/orlicensingagencystandards.
• Completeallrequireddocumentationinatimelymanner.
• Maintainapositiveattitudetowardallyouth,co‑workers,familiesandothersinvolvedwiththeprogram.
• Performotherdutiesasassigned.

• High School Diplomaorequivalentdegree .
• Aminimumof1yearemploymentexperienceinthechildwelfarefieldworkingwithchildrenand/or adolescents.
• Excellent Interpersonalandcommunicationskills,withtheabilitytoengageandinteracteffectivelywithminors.
• Patience,empathy,andtheabilitytoprovideemotionalsupporttominorsastheynavigatevariousdevelopmentalstages.
• Flexibilityandadaptabilitytoworkinadynamicandfast-paced environment.
• Bilingual English/Spanish fluency.
• Musthaveavaliddriver’slicense,reliable transportation,automotiveinsuranceandgoodrecord.
• Minimumautomobileinsurancecoverageof $100,000/300,000bodily injury liability.
• Proficientuseofdesktopandlaptopcomputers,internet search,peoplemanagementprograms,smartphonesandtablets, printers, faxmachinesandphotocopying.
• 21yearsofagevaliddriver’slicense.
