Clinical, Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a compassionate, recovery-oriented Peer Specialist to join our CSU team, supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and substance use challenges as they work toward independence and wellness. In this dynamic, community-based role, you will use your lived experience to build authentic connections, provide milieu and case management support during Drop-In services, and empower clients to define and achieve their recovery goals through one‑on‑one and group engagement.

You will connect individuals to essential resources; including housing, healthcare, and community supports; while collaborating closely with clinical teams to ensure continuity of care and successful transitions into community services. Grounded in AMHR’s mission of helping people Live Life to the Fullest and guided by values such as Passionate Caring, Respect for All, and Belief in Resilience, this role is ideal for someone driven to make a meaningful impact by uplifting others through empathy, advocacy, and strength‑based support.

Salary for this role. Starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi‑weekly.

$20.44 to $30.65 hourly

Schedule. This position is fully Onsite/In‑person, Sunday - Wednesday 8:00 am - 6:30 pm.

Shift Differential Pay.
  • Day Weekend (Sat, Sun): $1.50/hour
  • Swing Weekday (Mon‑Thurs): $1.50/hour
  • Swing Weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun): $2.75/hour
Bilingual Language Differential Pay.

Employees who successfully pass a language assessment are eligible to receive bilingual differential pay. This differential is provided as a fixed amount of $3,000 per calendar year, paid on a bi‑weekly basis across 26 pay periods, and prorated based on hire date and full‑time equivalency (FTE). Eligibility and payment are subject to the language requirements of the position and the employee’s demonstrated proficiency in the language.

Essential

Functions.
  • Assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery through one‑to‑one meetings and group sessions.
  • Support clients in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports and resources to aid them in achieving those goals.
  • Provide follow‑up services with clients after their admission or assessment with Crisis Services, to help ensure successful transition to community‑based services.
  • Assist client in working with their case manager or treatment team in determining the steps s/he needs to take in order to achieve these goals and self‑directed recovery.
  • Meet with clients in a wide range of settings, including client, group or family homes, in community‑based outpatient settings, community agencies.
  • Assist clients in obtaining services that suit the individual's recovery needs by providing community resources and groups that may be useful. Inform clients about community and natural supports and how to use these in the recovery process.
  • Promote working together and sharing of resources for clients in the community - food, clothing, transportation, recreation, medical, housing, shelters, and employment, as appropriate.
  • Assist clinical staff in maintaining accurate data by outreaching clients and meeting with them one‑to‑one to ensure all forms are up‑to‑date and entered in the organization's electronic health record.
  • Assist in navigation and advocacy with clients' appointments and attendance including criminal justice proceedings, medical, and other needs.
