Senior Developer; Java​/Backend

Overview

Ignite Action is seeking an experienced API Developer to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced APIs that drive innovative large public data discovery and analytics applications. As an API Developer, you will design, develop, test, and maintain RESTful APIs and improve customer experiences using modern programming languages and frameworks.

• Develop, deploy, and maintain API-driven mission critical enterprise applications throughout the full software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Build and optimize applications that leverage J2EE, Tomcat, Oracle RAC, Maria
  
  DB, Postgre
  
  SQL, Aurora, Elastic Search, Open Search.
• Support development and deployment of cloud-native Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes utilizing AWS Step Functions, Lambda, and Event Bridge for improved automation and maintainability.
• Support database analysis, architecture, design, development, administration and capacity/storage, implementation, and operations of multi-terabytes scalable enterprise end-to-end backend database systems.
• Manage version control, development workflows, and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Git Hub, Bitbucket, and Jira to enable rapid, dependable deployments.
• Follow Agile development principles within the SAFe framework, engaging in iterative development cycles, backlog prioritization, and adaptive planning.
• Conduct rigorous unit testing, integration testing, and automated deployment processes to ensure application quality, reliability, and security compliance.
• Perform ongoing application maintenance, including monitoring system performance, responding to incidents, and implementing patches and security updates.
• Design, customize, and optimize software solutions to enhance operational efficiency, integrating third-party components and automating maintenance tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements, participate in architecture reviews, and deliver high-quality software solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Provide team-specific training as needed.

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, backend developer
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs, API design principles, and API security best practices
• Experience with API frameworks such as Spring Boot, JaxRS, or Jersey
• Strong experience with databases such as Oracle, Maria
  
  DB, Postgre
  
  SQL, Aurora and understanding of databases, data structures, algorithms, and indexes
• Experience working in an Agile organization using Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Strong skills preparing and presenting design/architectural documents to clients

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field
• Experience with data search and discovery platforms such as Open Search highly preferred
• Experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Aurora, Lambda, etc.) and best practices
• Experience with leveraging IaC developing automated deployment and orchestrations solutions using Terra Form, Cloud Formation, and other scripting tools
• Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of Dev Ops practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD)
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git Hub, Bitbucket)

Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain or maintain Public Trust (High) clearance.
