As Senior Software Engineer, you will use your experience to build resilient and scalable APIs for our Aetna Health customers using the latest cloud technologies and development methodologies.

As part of the Aetna Health Digital Enterprise, you will be part of a team responsible for API creation from discovery through design and development and its production maintenance. You will also maintain a user‑centric and business‑as‑priority approach in design perspective and practice. In this position you will partner and collaborate with the Engineering manager, Architects, Quality assurance, Business partners, Product Owners, Scrum Masters, Developers and Project managers to effectively translate business requirements into solutions and engineering components.

You will work closely with Product Management, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and Architecture to deliver highly reliable and performant products that drive business value. You will collaborate across a cross‑functional development team and stakeholders to make high‑level architectural decisions, propose design patterns, and ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability of digital solutions. You will also be involved throughout the entire development life cycle of a product, deliver efficient solutions, and identify and mitigate risks before deployment to production.

You will write code, develop software components and implement complex functionalities according to product requirements. Leverage advanced programming skills to design and implement complex features, optimize performance and ensure code efficiency. Integrate various software components or systems, ensuring seamless communication and interoperability between different parts of the digital solution. Write and execute comprehensive test cases, conduct code reviews, perform debugging and troubleshoot issues to ensure reliability, stability and high quality.

Participate in SAFe agile or other development methodologies, attend meetings, contribute to project planning and help drive progress and success of digital projects. Explore new tools, frameworks and techniques to improve digital solutions and drive innovation within the team. Create and maintain technical documentation, including system designs, architecture diagrams, code documentation and other relevant documents while sharing knowledge and expertise with team members to ensure effective knowledge transfer and collaboration.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• 3+ years of NodeJS development with Type Script or JavaScript.
• 3+ years of Cloud Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
• 2+ years of experience with domain‑driven design (DDD) and microservice architectures.
• 2+ years of experience designing architectural solutions based off product requirements and considerations for both server and client needs.
• 2+ years of experience with monitoring and observability and building scalable services.
• 2+ years of experience implementing various database solutions (SQL/No
  
  SQL DB).

• Experience developing Graph
  
  QL APIs.
• Experience with queues, websockets, malware scanners, messaging & chat architectures, and form submissions.
• Experience with building AI solutions and tracking model and feature performance, used to derive next steps in a feature's lifecycle or opportunities for optimization.
• Understanding of common security vulnerabilities, industry standards and experience anticipating and addressing security concerns in solutions and code.
