Overview

Fleet Maintenance Technicians are responsible for maintaining and repairing transportation delivery equipment used for the delivery and unloading of merchandise at Chick‑fil‑A restaurants. The Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician is responsible for servicing a broad array of equipment, including heavy‑duty tractors, refrigeration units, insulated trailers and hydraulic liftgates in a safe, orderly, and timely fashion to maximize equipment availability for delivery. They are also responsible for completing maintenance and repairs to transportation equipment air conditioning and refrigeration units.

The Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician provides Fleet Maintenance Technicians and other personnel into dynamic problem‑solving team members focused on caring for their teammates in Transportation, the Distribution Center and ultimately the Operators and Restaurants. The Lead Technician reports directly to the Fleet Manager – Fleet Maintenance.

Compensation
  • As of the date of this posting, the good faith compensation range is $105,000 to $115,000 annually.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative, and corrective maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications, fleet management policies, work order instructions, and safety, quality, and compliance requirements
  • Develops strategies and plans to align available resources and external service providers with the needs of Transportation Operations to maximize the availability of safe and reliable equipment
  • Plans and dispatches daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities, including the coordination of services from external vendors
  • Maintains parts inventory and performs Monthly Inventory to accurately account for all parts spend
  • Plans equipment moves for maintenance to maximize uptime availability for the transportation team
  • Proactively communicates with Transportation Operations / DC Operations all maintenance issues which can disrupt delivery service to restaurants
  • Supports off-shift critical work and emergency repairs
  • Completes thorough documentation and closes out work orders for repairs and maintenance activities in the Fleet Maintenance Management System
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems, utilizing technology/software where applicable
  • Completes complex and detailed mechanical and electrical inspection and repairs with minimum supervision
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment
  • Identifies root cause for defects and performs repairs accordingly
  • Repair delivery equipment, tractors, trailers, bobtails and passenger vehicles or any piece of equipment used for the delivery and unloading of restaurant merchandise
  • Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, drill press and jacks and hoists
