Job Title
Bus Driver Trainee
OverviewComplete the Cherry Creek School District’s bus driver training program and obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with "P" (passenger) and "S" (school bus) endorsements within one month of hire.
Responsibilities- Attend and participate in the district bus driver training program.
- Assist the driver in maintaining student behavior and intervene or report incidents as needed.
- Aid in loading and unloading students, especially those with special needs.
- Communicate with the driver to develop a team environment.
- Maintain student health and safety information from route sheets and reports.
- Ensure students are properly loaded and seated.
- Assist with special needs equipment storage, bus cleaning, and seat sanitization.
- Practice emergency evacuation drills with students and the driver.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
- High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
- No professional work experience required.
- Colorado driver’s license.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with both "P" and "S" endorsements within one month of hire.
- CPR and First Aid certification within one month of hire.
- At least 21 years of age.
- Successful completion of a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). within one week of hire.
- Meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self-Insurance Pool.
- Clear Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle record within the past three years.
- Pass Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado Department of Education screenings.
- Original Motor Vehicle Record dated within the past 30 days; no recent suspensions or DUI convictions.
- Experience in the public sector, especially public education.
- Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent.
- Medium work strength (lifting or carrying 50 pounds).
- Works indoors and outdoors, often in loud noise conditions.
- Occasional bending, reaching, and climbing.
- Requires clear vision (20 inches or less) and distance vision (20 feet or more).
- Color, peripheral, and depth vision; visual concentration.
- Ability to adjust focus and interact appropriately with the public, students, and coworkers.
- Exposure to all weather conditions.
