The Contracts Development Consultant is responsible for end‑to‑end support of policy forms and related documents for the Group Life, Group Dental, and Group Vision products across the United States. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with actuarial, legal, sales, marketing, underwriting, claims, and administrative partners to identify product specifications, form content, and issue requirements in connection with product development, product updates, and changes in insurance laws and regulations.
The position requires strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Draft group insurance policy forms in accordance with product objectives, company policy, and state laws and regulations, and assist in analyzing contracts and reviewing applicable laws and regulations to determine impact to new and existing contracts.
- File and successfully negotiate final form approval with state agencies, and develop analytical and research skills to interpret and validate regulatory comments during the approval process.
- Establish strong relationships and partner with product development, service, actuarial, operations, sales, underwriting, I.T., and other key partners to accomplish deliverables.
- While understanding Met Life’s standards and precedents, devise solutions for unusual and unprecedented product or customer situations.
- Prepare, maintain, and disseminate filing status and other internal metrics reports to all relevant stakeholders, research and respond to internal and external customer questions regarding contract features and compliance, and research and respond to form‑related questions from internal partners including sales, service, implementation, and product development.
- 3 or more years of relevant business experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong analytical, problem‑solving, and research, and organizational skills. Must have attention to detail and be self‑motivated, flexible, enthusiastic, and have proven collaboration skill.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and to a lesser extent PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Manages multiple assignments with varying deadlines simultaneously, maintaining a strong focus on timeliness and on‑time delivery.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree or Juris Doctor.
- Technical knowledge and skills in group contract work, particularly in life, dental, and/or vision insurance products.
- Familiarity with insurance laws and regulations pertaining to contracts and filing procedures.
Location expectation:
This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.
Salary range: $64,800 – $99,300. This role may also be eligible for annual short‑term incentive compensation and stock‑based long‑term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
