Description

Fehr Graham is a fast-growing Midwest engineering environmental firm looking for a motivated Resident Engineer who is a proven leader, mentor and strategic thinker. The role is based in our Aurora, Illinois office. This role supports construction oversight for a major wastewater treatment facility project, serving as the on‑site technical representative and ensuring construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and regulatory requirements.

It Takes
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in construction engineering, or construction oversight.
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • Direct experience with wastewater treatment plant design or construction strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, contract administration, and municipal infrastructure standards.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work full‑time on‑site.
What You’ll Do
  • Serve as the primary on‑site representative for Fehr Graham during construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Oversee daily construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, permits, and contract documents.
  • Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, project managers, and municipal stakeholders.
  • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, pay applications, change orders, and field documentation.
  • Monitor construction schedules, quantities, and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and resolve field issues in collaboration with the project team.
  • Conduct and document progress meetings and site observations.
  • Maintain accurate project records, field reports, and correspondence.
  • Communicate project updates to client stakeholders on a weekly basis.
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch lists and final documentation.
