The Disability Resource Assistant Director supports learning by facilitating access for students with disabilities in the AU community. This position will assist in achieving compliance, ensure student equity, and uphold Aurora University’s mission of inclusivity and empowerment.

- Collaborate with the Disability Resource Director to improve and facilitate access services for undergraduate, graduate, on‑ground, and online students with disabilities.
- Assist with the upkeep and implementation of office policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with the Director to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, As Amended, Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and other relevant laws and policies.
- Evaluate and interpret student documentation and determine eligibility for accommodations.
- Conduct meetings with students to determine eligibility for accommodations within the appropriate level of services (provisional, temporary, and permanent) and make recommendations for relevant services and resources.
- Maintain confidential, accurate, and complete records of prospective and registered students within the office management system and other relevant platforms.
- Maintain a caseload of students with disabilities ensuring effective implementation of approved accommodation and access across campus.
- Assist in the provision of auxiliary aids, interpreters, captioning services, and other related services as needed.
- Assist in the acquisition of alternate formats for printed materials as needed.
- Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement materials designed to educate students with disabilities, parents/families, and faculty and staff on services and supports provided by the DRO.
- Support students with self‑advocacy so they can effectively communicate with faculty, staff, and peers.
- Collaborate with the Director in collecting, maintaining and analyzing DRO and disability data for ongoing departmental and campus‑wide review and improvement.
- Collaborate with the Director on work that increases DRO visibility and builds understanding of the DRO to support an inclusive community.
- Support and collaborate with faculty and other campus departments in appropriately implementing approved accommodations and supporting an understanding of working with students with disabilities.
- Assist in maintaining office operations including email and phone communication.
- Assist in recruitment, hiring, training, and oversight of student workers, including but not limited to, peer note takers and office interns and student work.
- Collaborate with Testing Services to support appropriate implementation of testing related accommodations.
- Support Testing Services operations when needed, including final exams.
- Represent the DRO, Testing Services, and Academic Support Center in campus events including, but not limited to, Open Houses, Admitted Student Days, and orientation that may include evening and weekend commitments.
