Job Summary:
The elementary school teacher is responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated instruction that is aligned to the curriculum and learning standards. The elementary school teacher establishes a culture for learning within the classroom, ensuring that students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The elementary school teacher maintains regular communication with parent(s)/guardian(s) regarding the instructional program and student progress.
Qualifications:
- Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with endorsements in elementary education (Grades 1-6) or early childhood education (Birth-Grade
2). - Ability to establish positive and supportive relationships with students.
- Exhibits high emotional intelligence and patience when faced with challenging situations.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability when unforeseen circumstances require changes to a lesson or the class schedule.
- Dedicated to working collaboratively within a grade level team, sharing data, lesson plans, and instructional strategies with colleagues.
- Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions.
- Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
- Strong knowledge of state learning standards and instructional best practices in literacy and mathematics.
- Able to work with a diverse student population that come from different linguistic, socioeconomic, and family backgrounds.
- Establishes clear, appropriate and open communication with parents and guardians.
- Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications and the ability to incorporate technology as a means of enhancing instruction.

- Prepares lesson plans that incorporate best practice instructional strategies for all core content areas.

- Uses a variety of instructional resources and materials in planning engaging, rigorous, and differentiated activities that are structured to advance student learning.

Adapt instruction for the whole class, individuals, or small groups of students.

Encourage students to make connections, draw conclusions, and formulate arguments.
Challenge students to explain their thinking.
Strengthen students' ability to develop their own questions; and
Engages students in activities and assignments that are intellectually challenging, allowing students to reflect on what they have learned.
Actively assesses student understanding during instruction, providing constructive feedback designed to inform students of their progress and how they can improve their work.
Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness during instruction by:
Adapting the lesson in response to student feedback, questions, and interests; and
Incorporating alternative teaching methods to help students who are having difficulty.
Reflects on instructional practices to improve teaching and student learning.
