Educational Interpreter - Aurora, Illinois

Qualifications & Desired

Experience:

• Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Previous experience working in educational settings as a Sign Language Interpreter is a plus
• Familiarity with both verbal and written communication modes to support diverse student needs
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and families
• Relevant interpreting credentials or certifications preferred

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students and staff during classroom instruction, meetings, and school activities
• Travel between schools within the district as needed to provide consistent interpreting services
• Facilitate clear communication and foster understanding among students, staff, and families
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold high standards of professionalism in all interactions
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and other interpreters to ensure students' access to the curriculum
