Position: Special Education Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

This is a full‑time (1.0 FTE) Special Education Teacher position at Hill Middle School, effective August 2026.

Job Summary
  • Plan and instruct students on district and state approved curriculum in classroom, integrated or direct service approaches as appropriate.
  • Modify and adapt lessons and curriculum to meet individual student needs and IEP goals.
  • Adapt assessments, implement standardized assessments, and modify test environments or equipment to meet individual needs.
  • Review student progress through team meetings and IEP conferences, maintain records of student work, and develop intervention strategies.
  • Meet regularly with teachers, assistants, and specialists to discuss student modifications, ongoing learning issues, interventions, and problems.
  • Participate in problem‑solving and intervention teams to address learning or behavioral problems.
  • Complete required documentation of student progress and data for IEP reports, goals, and evaluations.
  • Communicate verbally and in writing with parents and students about progress.
  • Establish a safe, positive learning environment and model appropriate behaviors.
  • Assign work, instructions, or lessons to teacher assistants, assessing work and providing feedback.
  • Participate in building and district teams or committees, providing feedback and acting as liaison to other staff.
  • Enforce and support school policies, philosophies, and objectives with students and parents.
  • Collaborate with staff to plan, modify, enhance, and implement curriculum and school objectives.
  • Participate in staff development and school improvement activities to maintain professional growth.
  • Participate in events outside the regular work day such as orientation, open houses, or conferences.
Qualifications

Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with an LBSI endorsement.

Benefits

Benefits and rate of pay are described in the IPEA contract (2026‑2030). Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
