Sign Language Interpreter

Sign Language Interpreter. This is a FTE 1.0 Full-time position. Translates via sign language the information and communication that occurs around the hearing impaired student in multiple settings across the school day. Position start date:
August 2026.

• The qualified candidate will have a passing score for the state certification.
• Must be proficient in English, in both written and spoken form.
• Listen to a speaker's words, inflection and intent and simultaneously interpret them into signs using the preferred communication mode of the student with a hearing impairment.
• Must be able to comprehend sign, inflections and intent of the student and simultaneously speak them in articulate, appropriate English.
• Facilitate communication between hearing individuals and the student with hearing loss.
• Prompt, cue and redirect students to remain on task.
• Participate in the administration of classroom, district and state assessments.
• Observe student behaviors and performance and communicate student performance to teacher and support staff.
• Support a safe atmosphere conducive to a positive learning environment. Act as role model on appropriate behaviors ensuring social and emotional development is progressing normally.
• Enforce and support school policies, philosophies and objectives with students and parents.
• Collaborate with other staff in planning, modifying, enhancing and implementing curriculum and school objectives.

$. Experience in the same or similar position will be considered. This position has 181 work day calendar.
