Position: 2026-2027 Part-time elementary PE Teacher

Part‑time elementary PE Teacher () – Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools, Bishop McNamara Catholic School, Bradley, Illinois. Position available August 2026.

Position Purpose

The teacher is considered a ministerial employee by virtue of working in a Catholic School and agrees to support and strengthen the Catholic Church and its value system. The teacher must convey the Catholic Church’s message and carry out its mission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Strictly observe the Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Seek an understanding of and implement the educational and spiritual philosophy and procedures of the local school.
  • Instruct children in assigned subjects, direct and guide students’ learning throughout the day, and adjust instructional level to meet individual student needs.
  • Attend to related professional duties, including lesson planning, preparing materials, helping individual students, reading professional literature, serving on diocesan staff committees, attending faculty meetings, and conferring with the principal on instructional and disciplinary problems.
  • Participate in all faculty meetings and prescribed in‑service training opportunities.
  • Attend teacher institutes as stipulated by the school and the Catholic Schools Office.
  • Complete Catholic identity formation training and other required professional development from the Diocese of Joliet.
  • Supervise the children and maintain discipline before, during, and after school.
  • Remain in the classroom during class periods except for emergencies.
  • Have general knowledge of all information in each student’s cumulative folder.
  • Secure principal approval for important communications with parents concerning school matters.
  • Encourage responsible conduct and behavior among students and the broader community.
  • Contribute to the nurturing and advancement of the physical, mental, and spiritual well‑being of the students.
  • Make appropriate reports for the principal and parents concerning students’ educational growth and development.
  • Collaborate with parents to assist them in their role as primary educators of their children.
  • Consistently communicate with and/or meet with parents regarding student progress in school.
  • Communicate professionally with all constituents, including school administration, pastor, parish priests, colleagues, students, parents, and prospective parents.
  • Effectively use technology to enhance student learning.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by the principal or pastor.
Education and Experience
  • Educator Licensure:
    The candidate must hold a current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a valid out‑of‑state certificate with reciprocity. Enrollment in an accredited program working toward licensure is acceptable.
  • Holds a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or a related discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
  • Practicing Catholic (preferred; required to teach religion or theology courses).
Salary

Annual salary range: $31,824 – $58,352 (prorated based on % of full‑time equivalency). Final salary will be determined by teaching experience and education. Paid personal leave days are included.

Physical Requirements

Employee may be required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, use hands, reach with arms, walk up or down multiple flights of stairs, and perform other duties. Ability to lift up to 20–30 pounds if needed. Work in standard school building environments and outdoors during student activities.
