SummaryFull‑time position (35 hours per week), starting August 2026. Assist students with activities to maximize participation in learning and achievement of IEP objectives. Perform duties with assigned individuals or groups of students to ensure learning and behavioral objectives are achieved.
Essential Job Functions- Implement instructional plans as determined by licensed teachers and therapists.
- Apply lesson modifications as directed and adjust as needed to meet learning objectives. Prompt, cue, and redirect students to stay on task.
- Administer curriculum‑based tests and quizzes.
- Ensure students record assignments, have correct materials, and complete assignments for class as appropriate.
- Take notes of curriculum presented during class as appropriate.
- Provide physical care as needed: diapering, toileting, feeding, and reinforcing adaptive PE/motor activities as directed by teacher or therapist; assist with hygiene and independent living skills.
- Observe, document, and reinforce appropriate student behaviors; communicate activities to teacher and facilitators.
- Participate in weekly team meetings to review progress, plan lessons, and attend trainings.
- Assist with non‑instructional activities.
- Assist in maintaining safety, behavior, decorum, and order in common areas including lunchroom, playground, corridors, and other school facilities, and on field trips.
- Retrieve students from buses or cars at the start of classes and escort them to appropriate buses or cars at the end of classes when required.
- Record and update student progress toward achievement of the individual educational plan.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to communicate with students and staff, and to assist students with instruction.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations.
- Ability to use personal computers and software applications such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and show sensitivity to individual differences.
- Discretion and confidentiality regarding student information.
- Establish supportive and compassionate relationships with students with special needs.
- Maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others.
- Remain composed in stressful situations and adapt to changing conditions.
- Report work orally or in writing to supervisors as required.
- Carry out instructions given in written or oral form.
- Work independently, stay on task, multi‑task, and take responsibility to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Lift students and perform other manipulations for diapering, toileting, feeding, dressing, and assisting with daily living skills.
- Regularly required to see, speak, and hear; sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, climb, balance, bend, twist, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Qualified candidates will hold a valid Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), Substitute License, or Professional Educator License. Experience with special education students is preferred.
To obtain an Educator License with Stipulations (PARA), candidates must meet one of the following:
- Be at least 19 years of age.
- Have either:
- Associate’s degree or higher.
- 60 semester hours of coursework.
- High School Diploma or GED and a score of 460 or higher on the ETS Para Pro.
- High School Diploma or GED and the following scores on the ACT Work Keys:
- Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (score
4). - Reading for information/Workplace Documents (score
4).

- General office equipment.
- Personal computers.
- Adaptive equipment as needed.
