Sign Language Interpreter in Aurora, IL

Make a meaningful impact by supporting young learners as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter in an elementary school setting near Aurora, IL. In this rewarding, school-based contract position, youll provide vital communication access for an elementary student in a mainstream classroom, working full-time hours (35 hours a week). Youll play a pivotal role in ensuring educational engagement and inclusion by facilitating clear, effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers throughout the school day.

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Valid Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.0 or higher
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) for interpreting in schools, or eligibility with an application in progress
• Experience in elementary or K-12 school environments preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive educational atmosphere
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills

• Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for an elementary student during all instructional and school-related activities
• Accurately convey spoken content into ASL and interpret student responses for staff and classmates
• Support classroom participation, engagement, and learning objectives
• Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and families to meet the students communication needs
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
