Position Summary:

The Building Career Exploration Coordinator leads the implementation and continuous improvement of Glenbard's Career Exploration initiative at the assigned high school. Working collaboratively with the Lead Career Exploration Coordinator, building administrators, counselors, teachers, other building coordinators, and community partners, the coordinator plans, coordinates, and promotes career exploration opportunities; uses Schoo Links to support student access and participation; identifies and documents career-related activities and partnerships occurring within the building;

and helps develop a consistent, sustainable district wide career exploration system.

  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, staff, families, employers, postsecondary institutions, alumni, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.
  • Ability to coordinate programs, events, and multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Lead Career Exploration Coordinator, building administrators, counselors, teachers, and district staff.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Google Workspace and web-based applications; willingness to learn district-supported software, including Schoo Links.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Interest in Career Exploration, College and Career Readiness, community partnerships, and student engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Not all Inclusive):

  • Coordinate the implementation of Career Exploration programming at the assigned high school, primarily through Glenbard Hour.
  • Maintain an annual building Career Exploration calendar and coordinate Career Chats, guest speakers, career panels, professional-skills workshops, and other approved Career Exploration experiences.
  • Work with teachers, counselors, department chairs, administrators, and other staff to identify career speakers, community partners, workplace visits, and career-related activities already occurring within the building.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate building-level inventory of career speakers, community partners, activities, staff connections, and student participation.
  • Establish a clear process for staff to share information about planned career speakers, community partners, workplace visits, and related activities.
  • Recruit, cultivate, and maintain relationships with business, industry, postsecondary institutions, alumni, nonprofit organizations, and community partners.
  • Support staff members seeking speakers, partners, or other Career Exploration resources.
  • Coordinate activity logistics, including scheduling, partner and staff communication, facilities, technology, student capacity, registration, reminders, supervision arrangements, and event preparation.
  • Promote Career Exploration opportunities to students and staff through Schoo Links and other approved building communication channels.
  • Use Schoo Links and other district-approved tools to publish opportunities, manage student registration and communication, record attendance and participation, and maintain accurate activity and partner information.
  • Provide timely preparation, communication, follow-up, and appreciation to participating community partners.
  • Collect student, staff, and partner feedback and use the information to evaluate and improve Career Exploration programming.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Career Exploration Coordinator and other Building Career Exploration Coordinators to develop, test, implement, and improve district procedures, templates, communications, Schoo Links workflows, partner-tracking practices, promotional strategies, and approaches to student access.
  • Participate in coordinator meetings, training, planning, and shared district wide Career Exploration activities.
  • Help ensure that Career Exploration programming represents varied career areas, grade levels, postsecondary pathways, and student interests.
  • Provide periodic implementation updates addressing activities, student participation, community partners, career areas represented, promotional efforts, successes, barriers, and next steps.
  • Prepare a brief annual summary of Career Exploration activities, partnerships, outcomes, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
