Build a Safer, Smarter Plant in Aurora, ILPretium Packaging is looking for an on-site Environmental, Health & Safety professional to partner with operators, maintenance, engineering, and plant leadership. If you thrive on preventing incidents before they happen and shaping a proactive safety culture, this role is for you. Fluency in Spanish (read, write, speak) is preferred.

A day in the life

You begin with a floor walk-through, checking guarding on plastics processing equipment and observing LOTO practices during a changeover. Mid-morning, you lead a short training on PPE and hazard communication in both English and Spanish. After lunch, you review last week’s near-miss, complete a root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. You wrap the day closing out OSHA log updates and preparing for an upcoming stormwater inspection.

Key responsibilities

Safety & Regulatory Compliance Support and maintain the Pretium Packaging EHS program aligned with OSHA and applicable environmental regulations

Plan and conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments across manufacturing operations

Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses; complete root-cause analyses and corrective actions

Maintain OSHA logs, required documentation, and compliance records

Communicate trends and recommendations to plant leadership

Environmental Programs Oversee waste management (hazardous and non-hazardous), emissions, stormwater, and chemical handling

Monitor storage and handling practices and support regulatory reporting

Assist with environmental inspections and follow-up actions

Training & Culture Deliver safety training on Lockout/Tagout, PPE & Hazard Communication, Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, and Emergency Response Engage employees through committees and continuous improvement initiatives

Risk Reduction & Continuous Improvement Partner with operations to identify hazards tied to plastics equipment, robotics/automation, compressed air, and material handling/resins

Support engineering and administrative controls implementation

Track safety metrics and drive improvement projects

Emergency Preparedness Support planning for fire safety, evacuation, spill response, and medical emergencies

Coordinate drills and response team activities

Qualifications

Education & Experience Bachelor’s in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred)2+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing

Background in plastics, injection molding, blow molding, or industrial manufacturing strongly preferred OSHA 30 preferred

Certifications (Preferred)
CHST, ASP, or similar professional safety credential

First Aid/CPR/AEDSkills

Strong command of OSHA and environmental requirements

Incident investigation and root-cause analysis

Ability to influence at all levels and champion safe work practices

Excellent documentation and organizational habits

Microsoft Office proficiency

Spanish bilingual ability preferred

Location & Work Style On-site at our Aurora, Illinois manufacturing facility.
