Annual Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000;

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team at our Aurora, IL manufacturing facility. This role focuses on designing and developing custom, customer-specific products while supporting manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Senior Design Engineer will work cross-functionally with Sales, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, and Production to deliver high-quality, manufacturable solutions from concept through production. This position also includes CAD administration responsibilities, supporting Solid Works and 3D Experience standards and best practices.

This is a mostly on-site role with a future opportunity for hybrid work in a hands-on manufacturing environment and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys seeing designs move from screen to shop floor.

  • Design and develop 3D models and 2D drawings in Solid Works for custom, customer-specific products.
  • Create manufacturable assemblies and subcomponents with consideration for function, cost, durability, and safety.
  • Produce complete production documentation, including drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Purchasing to support projects from concept through production.
  • Support quoting, prototyping, testing, and product release activities.
  • Resolve fabrication, assembly, and testing issues through hands-on troubleshooting and design updates.
  • Perform incoming inspection support, validation testing, and participate in product approval processes.
  • Initiate and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, design standards, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support and maintain CAD standards, templates, and libraries within Solid Works and 3D Experience.
  • Serve as a technical resource for CAD-related troubleshooting and support.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new engineering team members.
  • Provide limited customer-facing technical support, including occasional site visits and installations (up to ~10% travel).
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience designing retail fixtures, POP displays, or related fields.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing for manufacturing, including sheet metal, tubing, wire, and plastic or aluminum extrusions.
  • Strong proficiency with Solid Works; experience with Solid Works PDM or 3D Experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting product development through full lifecycle, including design, release, production support, and change management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience using Net Suite is a plus.
  • Spanish communication skills are a plus.

This role operates in a fast-paced, collaborative manufacturing environment that combines office-based engineering work with regular interaction on the production floor. The Design Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams, including Manufacturing, Project Management, Purchasing, and Sales, to support product development from concept through production. The position requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing project needs, and provide hands-on problem solving in support of manufacturing operations.

Occasional travel to customer sites, suppliers, or installations may be required.
