Job Title: Senior Engineer, Materials Quality Engineering

Role

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Engineer in our Materials Quality Engineering team (Supplier Quality) for our regional supplier base and US manufacturing operations. The primary responsibility is to assess and manage supplier risk, quality performance, and improvement to ensure continuity of Entegris and customer supply chains. This role supports the Materials Solutions Division and the plants in Aurora, IL and Hillsboro, OR.

The raw material portfolio to be managed includes inorganic materials and polymeric nanoparticles to support our IC Polishing consumables.

The candidate must be able to work with autonomy and independent judgment to achieve Materials Quality Engineering and Entegris corporate goals, and lead continuous improvement and supplier change projects with our critical/strategic suppliers. The candidate will work closely with Commodity Managers, Operations, R&D, and Customer Quality for internal and customer issue resolution. Strong interpersonal skills are required to develop working relationships with internal customers and critical/strategic suppliers to enable effective supplier management.

This position will collaborate with the global Materials Quality Engineering team to support the business.

What we seek
  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science
  • MS and/or PhD preferred with a focus in inorganic or polymeric nanomaterials
  • Six-Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred; knowledge of statistical software such as Minitab, JMP, or SAS
  • Demonstrated deep technical understanding of chemical manufacturing with experience in inorganic chemistry (e.g., colloidal silica, aluminum oxide, cerium oxide) and polymeric nanomaterials
  • Direct experience with supplier quality management is preferred
  • ASQ Certification or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, automotive, semiconductor, or related high-tech industries
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 10% total
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong organizational skills
  • Strong project management and leadership capabilities
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional departments
Responsibilities
  • Support new product development and the existing supplier base by leading onsite assessment and qualification of materials suppliers, identifying gaps/opportunities, driving gap closure and continuous improvement actions/projects
  • Collaborate with a global team including plants in Asia to support local and global issues when required
  • Understand supplier processes and how raw materials impact Entegris products and customers' applications
  • Serve as a subject-matter and technical expert in raw material management to support corporate and division goals
  • Drive technical improvements and own technical reviews in collaboration with R&D
  • Drive advanced quality planning and process documentation with critical/strategic suppliers
  • Own supplier process control system reviews (SPC trend reviews, metrology/SPC systems reviews, FMEA, Control Plans, etc.)
  • Initiate, coordinate, drive, and own supplier change notifications through Entegris internal change control system and supplier communication
  • Proactively assess supplier risk and plan appropriate risk mitigation
  • Train suppliers on key expectations and requirements such as Change Control
  • Anticipate potential supplier quality management problems and opportunities; assess impacts and risks, propose solutions
  • Drive supplier corrective actions and preventative actions to meet issue resolution expectations (SCAR, 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, etc.)
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of the Entegris Supplier Quality Management System by identifying and proposing process and technical improvements to meet industry and customer requirements
