The role:We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Manager of Materials Quality Engineering (MQE) to lead the development of robust quality programs that embed a prevention‑focused culture across our raw material ecosystem. This role is central to shaping the systems, standards, and methodologies that ensure consistent, predictable material performance for our advanced CMP product portfolio. By driving structured quality frameworks and inspiring a proactive mindset, this leader will help elevate quality maturity across the Materials Solutions Division.
The MQE Manager will provide people leadership, technical direction, and strategic oversight for a U.S.
-based team while partnering closely with global MQE groups in Taiwan, Korea, and Japan. This individual will enable strong execution of quality excellence programs, drive continuous improvement, strengthen customer and supplier relationships, and ensure alignment between customer needs, raw material quality strategies and business growth priorities.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Materials Quality Engineers specializing in Business Operations and Program Management.
- Manage and support employees across multiple time zones, ensuring inclusive communication, balanced workload distribution, and effective collaboration with global partners.
- Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning.
- Build technical capability through structured training and mentorship both within team and across the global MQE organization.
- Promote collaboration, clear communication, and trust.
- Set the strategic direction for prevention‑focused quality engineering, ensuring alignment with global MQE and Materials Solutions Division priorities.
- Engage and influence cross‑functional teams, global MQE partners, and suppliers, to build alignment, encourage shared ownership, and support thoughtful decision‑making.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully, translating complex technical or program information into concise, actionable insights tailored to engineers, leadership, suppliers, and customers.
- Provide supportive technical guidance on failure analysis, root‑cause investigations, SPC maturity, risk mitigation, and raw‑material performance to help the team build stronger technical foundations.
- Nurture strong working relationships across R&D, Operations, Sourcing, Product Management, Customer Quality, and global MQE teams to promote collaboration, transparency, and trust.
- Coach and mentor the team to develop polished, effective communication—ensuring OCAPs, 8
Ds, dashboards, and technical reports are clear, accurate, and aligned with expectations. - Apply balanced judgment in complex or fast‑moving situations, weighing customer needs, supplier capabilities, and business priorities to arrive at thoughtful, well‑supported decisions.
- Represent MQE in a steady, credible, and solutions‑oriented way during audits, escalations, supplier discussions, and cross‑functional reviews—helping ensure a consistent and collaborative voice.
- Oversee quality improvement and voice of customer quality programs.
- Ensure timely reporting of program status, risks, and deliverables.
- Serve as escalation point for customer investigations, excursions, and audits.
- Support preparation of technical reports, OCAPs, 8
Ds, and presentations. - Oversee supplier quality engagements and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with global quality policies, change control, and SPC expectations.
- Monitor OOC%, QN/NCMR cycle time, SPC maturity, EQOS, and issue investigation timeliness.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field;
Master’s or PhD preferred. - 7+ years industry experience; 3+ years people leadership required.
- Experience managing employees remotely preferred.
- Strong understanding of SPC, FMEA, materials characterization. Six Sigma Black Belt desired.
