Nuclear Safety Engineer

About the Role

As a Nuclear Safety Engineer you will perform routine calculations and support engineering analyses under the mentorship of senior engineers. The role reports to the Manager – Nuclear Safety Services and is located at Burr Ridge, with the possibility to work in a hybrid capacity.

• Perform engineering calculations related to nuclear safety, fluid flow, probabilistic risk assessment, equipment qualification, heat and mass transfer.
• Prepare documentation supporting evaluations and analyses.
• Verify routine design evaluations and analyses performed by others, as qualified.
• Interface with customers, vendors, and other teams to obtain necessary information.
• Obtain results for routine technical problems.
• Develop skills to take on independent assignments and support strategic initiatives.
• Identify and recommend process improvements and support implementation.
• Plan and schedule work to meet assignment requirements within schedule and budget.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical).
• 0–2 years of professional experience.
• Proficiency in Mathcad, C++, Fortran, and Visual Basic.
• Desirable: experience in dispersion modeling, severe accident modeling, thermal‑hydraulics modeling with RELAP, facility hazard modeling, equipment qualification, and laboratory experiments.

Base salary range: $58,400 to $73,000 per year.
