Job Title: Project Controls Specialist

This role involves working on a diverse array of projects, including infrastructure, mission critical, industrial, electrical, and civil projects, with budgets ranging from 5 million to a billion. The successful candidate will support the Project Controls Manager in implementing project controls standards, processes, and reporting across various projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage detailed project schedules using P6, including bid schedules built from plans and specifications.
  • Break down estimates, load costs and resources, and manage cost- and resource-loaded schedules using CPM.
  • Track and analyze project performance using earned value metrics (PV, EV, CPI, SPI) and communicate KPIs to project teams and leadership.
  • Monitor progress, update schedules with actuals, and identify impacts from delays, changes, or risks.
  • Perform schedule and cost variance analysis, change order impact analysis, and forecasting.
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Field Supervisors to develop WBS, resolve discrepancies, and mitigate schedule or cost risks.
  • Provide accurate, timely reporting and proactively flag conditions that could impact project objectives.
  • Assist with training and mentoring project teams on project controls tools and best practices.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and supporting special initiatives as needed.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in project controls with a mix of schedule and cost management.
  • Proficiency in construction, document control, cost control, and scheduling.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong general construction experience across various project types.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.

Work Environment

The position is based in a historical firm located 20 miles from Chicago in Countryside, IL, with occasional travel to job sites across the Midwest (IL, WI, IN, MI). Travel expenses are compensated. Work hours are standard from 7 AM to 3 PM, Monday to Friday, in‑office. The office offers a lively culture with a large space, kitchen, conference rooms, and open cubicles.

The company hosts work events, quarterly activities, and a holiday party. The office is adjacent to a warehouse used for fabrication.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Willowbrook, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $67.31/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
